Baseball Wins Two Straight

Winter Park, FL - The Nyack College Baseball defeated Bentley University on Monday 6-4 in extra innings and continued its winning efforts today when they defeated conference rivals Concordia College 8-3. The wins improve the Warrior's record to 4-3. 

Game 1

Game one saw the Warriors go up by two in the top of the first inning. Yoni Rodriguez scored after a throwing error and Ryan Kahl scored after a Anthony Torreullas single into left field. Bentley answered with a scored run in the bottom of the first and another two runs in the bottom of the second inning to take the 3-2 lead. 

Ruben Correa and Anthony Torreulas both scored after a Gabriel Vasquez single up the middle to regain the Warriors lead, 4-3. Bentley would tie the game with a scored run in the bottom of the 8th. Both teams were unable to score in the ninth inning, which forced the game into extra innings. Ruben Correa scored after a Gabriel Vasquez single in the top of the tenth inning before Gabriel Vasquez would score after a Luke Kelly double. Bentley was unable to score any runs of their own, which sealed the 6-4 Warrior victory. 

Jose Corrales led the Warriors for seven innings on the mount, facing 30 batters while striking out 13. Zachary Martirano and Omar Celaya closed out the game for the Warriors. 

Game 2

Game two saw Nyack go ahead by one in the top of the second inning. Jesse Barton scored after a Ruben Correa sacrifice fly. Concordia would tie the game with a run of its own in the bottom of the second. 

Nyack would score again in the top of the third when Ryan Kahl singled to center and Luke Kelly scored. Nyack would score big in the top of the fourth scoring five times. Jesse Barton started the scoring off with a homerun, before Gabriel Vasquez scored after a Yoni Rodriguez triple. Rodriguez would also get to home plate after Luke Kelly doubled to left center. Luke Kelly then stole third and eventuall scored after a passed ball. Ryan Kahl would finish up the the Nyack scoring efforts in the fourth inning when he scored after a Carlos Pino double. 

Kahl would score another run in the top of the sixth after a Anthony Torreullas single to left field. 

Concordia would score two more in the bottom of the ninth. The game finished with a final score of 8-3.

Up next: The Warriors will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to St. Thomas University to square of with Stonehill. First pitch is slated for 1 pm.
