Miami Gardens, FL - The Nyack College Baseball team lost a tough game against Stonehill College. The game remained close for majority of the time, before Stonehill burst into a 4-run eighth inning to grab the win.
Nyack would get on the scorebaord first in the first inning when Yoni Rodriguez scored after a wild pitch. Carlos Pino's sacrifice fly to center field allowed Luke Kelly to score the second Warrior run of the day.
Nyack was able to hold on to the lead until the bottom of the fifth. Tyler Carey tripled for Stonehill and an error on the throw allowed Stonehill's Carey and Matthew Rocco to get to home base to tie the game. Ben Monte gave Stonehill the lead after a Eddie Bowler double, 2-3.
Nyack would tie the game in the top of the sixth. Yoni Rodriguez was walked, stole second, and then advanced to third on a Luke Kelly single to left field. Ryan Kahl was up at bat with Rodriguez on third and Kelly on first base. Kahl grounded out to the short stop, which allowed Rodriguez to reach home, 3-3.
Stonehill would burst into a 4-run outing in the bottom of the eighth. Steve Lee homered to left field with two runners on bases to earn a three run lead for Stonehill, 6-3. They would round up their scoring with another run after a Matthew Rocco single.
Nyack was unable to recover and the game ended with a final score of 7-3 in favor of Stonehill.
