Baseball Enjoys Sweep of Caldwell on Wednesday

Nyack, NY - The Nyack College baseball team swept the Caldwell University Cougars with scores of 6-3 and 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Palisades Credit Union Park. The wins improve the Warriors' record to 11-8 overall and 4-2 in CACC play.

Game One

Nyack got on the scorebaord first in the bottom of the fourth. Anthony Torreullas scored after Ruben Correa single, who then scored as well after a Hayden Allen double to center field. 

Bases were loaded in the bottom of the fifth, when Anthony Torreullas was walked and Luke Kelly advanced to home base. 

Caldwell would find its way back into the game scoring a run in the top of the sixth and two in the top of the seventh to tie the game, 3-3. But the Warriors answered right away. Anthony Torreullas doubled to center field and Jesse Barton and Carlos Pino scored. Torreullas also reached home after a Ruben Correa double to center field. Excellent pitching by Kyle Tedesco and Omar Celaya in the final innings would seal the victory in game one with a score of 6-3.

Game Two

Game two only saw two runs overall. Both were scored in the bottom of the fourth when a Yoni Rodriguez single would score Ruben Correa and Anthony Torreullas. Jose Corrales led the Warriors from the mount in the shutout, striking out seven batters, while giving up four hits. Omar Celaya closed out the game to earn his fourth save of the season. 

Up Next: Nyack will be back on Saturday when they take on the Chestnut Hill College Griffins in a road doubleheader played at 12pm and 3pm.
