Caldwell, NJ - The Nyack College men's baseball team defeated the Caldwell University Cougars in both games of Tuesday's non-conference doubleheader. The Warriors won the doubleheader with scores of 9-4 and 4-2, which improves the overall record to 18-13.
The Warriors scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Ryan Kahl tripled to left field and allowed Carlos Pino to reach home base. Kahl then went on to score as well, when Jesse Barton singled to center field. Caldwell would answer right away with three scored runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.
Nyack would take back the lead in the top of the fifth. Ruben Correa, Jesse Barton, and Ryan Kahl scored for Nyack to earn a two-run lead, 5-3. The Warriors added two runs each in the top of the sixth and the seventh to jump to a 9-3 lead, before Caldwell would score their fourth run of the day in the bottom of the seventh.
Nyack scored first again in the second game, when Ryan Kahl reached home plate after a Luke Kelly single in the top of the second inning. Caldwell would take the lead scoring a run each in the bottom of the second and the third, 2-1.
But Nyack would answer with one-run innings in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning. Carlos Pino scored after a Kahl groundout in the top of the fourth, before Dillon Good scored after a Kelly single. Kahl would conclude the Warrior scoring of the day, when he scored another run in the top of the sixth after a throwing error by Caldwell's second base man.
Up next: Nyack will be back on Thursday, when they host the Concordia College Clippers in a CACC doubleheader played at the Palisades Credit Union Park. First pitch is slated for 12:00pm.
