Pomona, NY - The Nyack College men's baseball team swept the Concordia College Clippers in a conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at the Palisades Credit Union Park. The wins improve the Nyack overall record to 20-13 and 9-7 in CACC play.
Game one saw the Warriors jump to an ealry 4-0 in the the first four innings. Yoni Rodriguez scored on a balk in the top of the first. Carlos Pino and Ryan Kahl scored after a Anthony Torreullas single in the top of third and Rodriguez scored after a Luke Kelly sacrifice flyout.
Concordia would score their lone run of the first game in the bottom of the fourth, before Nyack would add three more runs in the 7th and 8th inning. Ryan Kahl scored in the top of the seventh after a Jesse Barton single, while Gabe Vazquez and Yoni Rodriguez scored of a Ryan Kahl single down the leftfield line to conclude the Warrior scoring in game one, 7-1.
Concordia scored twice in the bottom of the first to go up 2-0. Nyack would get a run back in the top of fourth, when Luke Kelly was walked with bases loaded, which allowed Ruben Correa to reach home plate.
Nyack would score three more in the top of fifth to take the lead. Ruben Correa and Yoni Rodriguez scored a Ryan Kahl double, before Kahl scored of a Jesse Barton single to conclude the scoring of game two. Nyack would take game two with a final score of 4-2.
Up next: The Warriors will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Delaware to take on the Wilmington University Wildcats in a CACC doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 12:00 pm.
