Baseball Falls Short to Wilmington Wildcats in 11-inning thriller

Wilmington, DE - The Nyack College men's baseball team came up short in the first round of the CACC championship, losing 1-2 after 11 innings to the Wilmington University Wildcats.

Jack Kelley was leading the Warriors from the mount keeping a clean sheet for the first seven innings, avoiding any runs, while giving up one hit in the bottom of the sixth.

Nyack was able to break the deadlock in the top of the third. Yoni Rodriguez drew a walk and then advanced to second base after a Ruben Correa single to the left side. Carlos Pino was up next at bat and singled to left center, which allowed Rodriguez to reach home plate.

The Wildcats tied the score in the bottom of the eighth, when Julian Kurych scored off a Jesse Long single down the leftfield line. The first nine innings ended with a score of 1-1, which forced the game into extra innings.

Wilmington would eventually be able to break the tie in the bottom of the 11th, when bases were loaded and Rocky Ferrier scored off a Max Carney sacrifice fly.

The Warriors finished their season with an overall record of 23-20 and 11-11 in CACC play.
