Nyack Men's Hoops earned its third straight win Monday night by defeating the #3 Ranked Team in the CACC - The University of the Sciences (USP) at home 72-70. The Warriors overcame a 20-point first half deficit to get the victory. This marks the first time Nyack has defeated USP since February, 2012.
The Warriors displayed another efficient shooting night finishing 49% from the field, 47% from 3-point land and 82.4% from the charity stripe.
How It Happened:
Four Warriors registered double-figures tonight led by Imran Ritchie (Uniondale, NY) with a team high 16 points. Robert Tyler (Beltsville, MD) added 14 points. Shawn Witherspoon registered 12 points and 6 rebounds while Ga'Briel Chandler (Atlantic City, NJ) added 10 points.
USP took control of the game from the tip amassing a 20-point lead (35-15) at the 6:56 mark in the first half of play. The Warriors would cut the deficit to 46-31 at half-time.
In the second-half the Warriors continued to battle their way back into the game. A Rob Tyler 3-point shot at the 5:36 mark gave Nyack a 68-66 advantage and their first lead of the game.
With under 30 seconds remaining in regulation, Imran Ritchie scored on a drive to the rim. The Warriors followed that up with a huge defensive stop. Dante Agnew's two clutch free throw's in the final seconds would then secure the Warriors 72-70 victory.
Nyack won the Points off Turnovers battle: 28-14. The Warriors also held the advantage in Second Chance Points: 13-3
