Nyack, NY - The Nyack College men's basketball team was defeated by the Bloomfield College Bears, 85-75. The game was played at Bowman Gym on Wednesday night.
The Warriors were led by junior Imran Ritchie, who scored a game-high 25 points, while also recording seven rebounds and five assists.
Both teams battled back and forth in the openings minutes, with the score being 6-5 in favor of the Bears. Bloomfield would start a 7-0 run at the 16:47 mark to earn a 8-point lead. A Jaron Smith three point bucket would tie the game, 17-17, with 8:41 to go. Seconds later Jaron Smith would sink another three pointer to give Nyack the first lead of the game, 20-19. The Bears would use a 13-5 run to take over the lead and extend it to 8-points with 4:14 to go in the half. But Imran Ritchie and Shawn Witherspoon buckets cut the Bears' lead back down to one, before Grant Goode would tie the game from behind the arc, 34-34. Both teams battled back and forth during the remaining minutes of the first half. Nyack came out on top when Jaron Smith was fouled behind the arc and converted all three of his free throws to give the Warriors the three point lead at halftime, 41-38.
Bloomfield came out hot starting the second half with a 10-0 run, 41-48. During the following minutes Nyack would work its way back into the game cutting the Bears' lead down to two with 8:39 to go, 59-61. The crowd saw an exciting game over the next couple minutes and it was Imran Ritchie who tied the score with 4:53 to go in the game, 70-70. However, Bloomfield kept the upper hand outscoring the Warriors 15-5 in the final minutes of the game earning a 85-75 victory.
The Warriors will be back in action this upcoming Saturday, when they travel to West Virginia to take on the Salem Int'l Tigers in a NCAA contest. Tip-off is slated for 2:00pm.
