Orangeburg, NY - The Nyack College men's soccer beat the Dominican College Chargers 1-0 in overtime in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) clash played at the DC Soccer Field.
Nyack enjoyed majority of the possession and created several opportunities in the first 45 minutes. However, the Warriors were unable to convert any of their opportunities into goals. The first half ended 0-0. Nyack recorded a 6-5 advantage in shots, while Dominican owned the 4-2 corner advantage. Wiktor Lasota recorded one save in the first period.
The second frame featured four corner kicks (2-2) and nine total shots (5-4 Nyack). Dominican's Sergio Monton took a shot in the 86th minute that was saved and the Warriors had an opportunity through Reinaldo Sanchez in the 89th minute that went wide to force the overtime.
In the overtime period, the Warriors had two shots, one was saved by Charger keeper Steven Hegner and the other went wide, before Nyack had back-to-back corner kicks. On the second corner kick, Finn Reese jumped higher than the Charger defense and headed the ball home into the lower left corner to seal the 1-0 victory.
Nyack had a 14-9 advantage in shots, while both teams had six corner kicks.
Lasota finished the game with a cleansheet and two saves.
Nyack (3-7, 2-4 CACC) will host Holy Family University this coming Saturday at Moseley Field. Kick off is slated for 2:30pm.
