Softball Puts Up Tough Fight In Doubleheader Losses To Griffins

Philadelphia, PA (March 23, 2013) - Nyack has played five consistent games since March 8th, starting out their season 4-1 and the past six games since March 16th have been postponed due to inclement weather.

As a result of the Nyack home field still in it's process of recovering, the Warrior Softball team began their 2013 CACC campaign with a change of venue doubleheader at Chestnut Hill College.

Nyack would be shutout in both games as the Lady Griffins captured a 3-0 win in game one and a 4-2 victory in game two, which battled out in extra innings.

Game one would feature Chestnut Hill's Courtney Dayter, who stymied the Nyack team with her first collegiate no hitter with her 3-0 victory.

In game two the Griffins would score early with 2 runs in the second inning. The Lady Warriors would come to score 2 in the fourth inning on senior, Anna Bailey's 2 RBI hit to left field.

This big play scored in freshmen Tori Flemming (Plano, Texas) and Theresa Huestis (Bridport, VT) the pinch runner.

The game became a pitchers duel until the ninth inning where the tiebreaker Rule went into effect.

Chestnut Hill would come up to score 2 runs on 3 hits on the top of 9th inning to complete the sweep.

The Lady Warriors (4-3, 0-2 CACC) will have a day off on Monday before returning to the diamond on Tuesday, March 26, 2013.

Nyack will travel to Concordia College for their second conference doubleheader.

First pitch is scheduled for 3pm.
