Warrior Softball Topped by Georgian Court

Lakewood, NJ (March 31, 2013) - Nyack Softball traveled to battle Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Georgian Court University on Saturday afternoon afternoon for a pre-Easter holiday doubleheader.

The final scores would show 1-6 in the first game and 1-7 the second game, as the Lady Lions would sweep the Lady Warriors in the series.

Featured on the mound in game one was sophomore, Chelsea Macaluso (Charlotte, NC), who would strike out 5 Georgian Court hitters, gave up 10 hits, 3 walks, and 1 home run in 7 innings.

GCU would get on the scoreboard first, landing their first run in the 2nd inning on a double and a base hitt to follow. They then scored two more runs in the 3rd, two in the 5th, and one in the 6th.

Offensively, Nyack would respond by putting a run on the board in the 3rd when sophomore, Kelsey Lyons (Puyallup, Washington) reached first base on a bunt.

She then advanced to second on a delayed still, and stole third base and home on two passed balls.

Starting off on the mound in game two was freshman, Christine Kline (Midland Park, NJ).

Georgian Court had 9 hits and 1 home run in the first 4 innings.

Four defensive errors made by the Lady Warriors allowed for extra bases to be taken as well.

Freshman, Tori Flemming (Plano, Texas) relieved Kline, pitching the next two innings. Flemming struck out 2 batters and gave up only 2 hits, keeping Georgian Court from scoring the rest of the game.

Nyack (4-9, 0-8 CACC) will have a few days off until their next games.

The Lady Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday, April 2nd as the team will travel to Caldwell College for a CACC doubleheader at 3pm & 5pm.
