Softball Falls Short In Games To Bridgeport Purple Knights

ORANGEBURG, NY (April 16, 2013)

Nyack Softball falls in a non-conference sweep to University of Bridgeport on Monday afternoon, as UB took game one, 1-0, and game two 3-1.

Game one started and finished with Freshman pitcher, Christine Kline on the mound. UB only had three base hits off of Kline in seven innings. The only run of the game came off of a home run hit in the second inning by UB's Sydney Phillips.

Kline struck out two batters and defense stood strong behind her making no errors. Offensively, Nyack had three base hits as well made by Sophomore, Chelsea Macaluso in inning 2, Freshman Ely Rivas in inning 3, and Freshman, Tori Flemming in inning 4.
Unable to string these hits together, Nyack could not put a run on the board.
Sophomore, Chelsea Macaluso did a phenomenal job in game two, striking out 8 batters in seven innings. UB put runs on the board once again off of a double in the 2nd inning which then scored on an error made by the Lady Warrior defense.
Another run scored in the 3rd after UB had three base hits. There last run was made off of a solo home run hit in the 7th inning. Nyack put there one run on the board after Junior, Becky Ferry hit a double to right field and Senior, Anna Baily bought her in on a single base hit to the outfield.
The Nyack softball team is back in action Wednesday, April 17, in another non-conference double header against St. Thomas Acquinas at their home field in Orangeburg, NY at 5pm and 7pm under the lights.
