In Day 4 of "The Spring Games" Nyack Softball suffered a loss to Ohio Dominican after a tie-breaking 6th inning. The Warriors fought to return from a 3 point deficit in the top of the 6th inning, earning a tie. Unfortunately, Ohio Dominican would respond with a 4 run rally to break the tie. When Nyack was unable to add to their score in the top of the 7th, the game came to a close with a final score of 7-3 in favor of Ohio Dominican.
Through the 7 innings the Warrior lineup earned 7 hits out of 28 at bats. Graduate student Meghan Richards (Nanuet, NY) and sophomores Victoria Triozzi (Branchburg, NJ) and Katalina Padilla (Las Cruces, NM) each earned a double at various point in the game. Triozzi led the Warriors with 2 hits for the game going 2-4 at the plate.
Driving in Nyack's 3 runs in the 6th inning were sophomores Kylie Brase (San Diego, CA) and Aferdita Sinanaj (Tappan, NY). Brase ripped a single to left field driving Triozzi in and advancing Richards to third. Richards would later be able to score on an error by the catcher. Feeling the momentum, Sinanaj pulled the pitch to the right side of the field forcing a fielder's choice that allowed Blair to push for the plate and score, tying the game at 3-3. Despite an aggressive approach in the base path, the Warriors were unable to best Ohio Dominican in the top of the 7th resulting in the end of the game.
The Warriors will be back for day 5 of "The Spring Games" on Tuesday, March 9th with 2 games. The first is scheduled to begin at 9 AM against Indiana (Pa.). The second game, at 1 PM, is against St. Cloud State University.
