On Day 6 of the "The Spring Games" tournament, Nyack Softball came away with their first victory of the 2016 season.  The first match of the day was against Assumption College, where the Warriors lost in the 5th inning 9-1.  Game 2 featured the Warriors against Dowling College where Nyack would achieve their first win with a score of 14-11.

Freshman right fielder Brittany Blair (Yonkers, NY) led the Warriors in game 2 with 2 hits in her 2 at bats.  Scoring the lone run for Nyack was Morgan Hans (Washington Township, NJ) with a solo homerun over center field in the top of the 2nd inning establishing the lead with a score of 1-0.  The Warriors were unable to manufacture any more points through the match.  Unfortunately, Assumption earned 7 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 4th and continued their scoring run in the bottom of the 5th with a double to right field that produced 2 RBI's.  The 2 runs pushed the game into completion with a final score of 9-1 in favor of Assumption.

Game 2 saw graduate student Meghan Richards (Nanuet, NY) lead the Warriors in offense as she went 3-4 at the plate scoring twice with 3 RBI's.  Richards was not alone in the aggressive offense. She was joined by freshman Alissa Brugnoli (Branchburg, NJ), Hans, Katalina Padilla (Las Cruces, NM), and Katie Lupinacci (Bordentown, NJ) .  Brugnoli went 3-5 with a double and 1 RBI while Padilla, Hans and Lupinacci all contributed a homerun.  Hans earned her 2nd homerun of the day, again, over center field with 2 RBI's.  Lupinacci garnered a grand slam over center field in the bottom of the 4thadding 4 runs to the scoreboard.  In the bottom of the 5th Padilla also homered over center field driving in 3 additional runs.  Their efforts led to the first Warrior win of 2016 with a final score of 14-11.

Nyack will continue in "The Spring Games" tournament Wednesday, March 9th, with another double header.  First Nyack will face Indiana (Pa.) at 9AM before taking on Saint Cloud State at 1 PM.  Stay tuned for more information!
