Philadelphia, PA - The Nyack College Softball team lost its first two conference games to Holy Family University 5-3 and 10-7. The Warriors are now 1-17 and 0-2 in CACC play.
Game one saw the Tigers jump to an early 3-0 lead when they scored two runs in the first and one in the bottom of the second inning. Nyack would tie the game in the top of the third when Morgan Hans tripled and Katalina Padilla, Stephanie White, and Katie Lupinacci scored, 3-3. But the Tigers would score a run each in the bottom of the third and the bottom of the fourth to seal the 5-3 victory in game one.
Nyack would open game two with a bang, when Nicole Wisser homered with Morgan Hans and Stephanie White on base. Nyack would close out their scoring in the first inning with a Katalina Padillla double to left field, which allowed Aferidta Sinanaj to score., 4-0. Holy Family scored a run in the bottom of the first, but Nyack answered with a run of its own in the top of the second, when Sarah Spindel scored after a Stephanie White double to left center.
Holy Family tied the game in the bottom of the second inning, when they scored four runs, 5-5. They would go on to score five more in the bottom of the third to gain a 10-5 lead. Nyack would try to battle its way back into the game scoring twice in the top of the 6th. Sinanaj was able to score after Shelby Davidson grounded out to second base and Sarah Spindel homered to right field, 10-7. However, Nyack was unable to add any more runs in the last inning of the game, which finished with a score of 10-7.
Up next: The Warriors will be back on Wednesday when they travel Caldwell University. First pitch is slated for 2:30pm.
