Nyack, NY - The Nyack College softball team earned his first CACC win, when they split with the Chestnut Hill College Griffins on Monday afternoon. The Griffns took game one with a score of 4-0, while the Warriors got the W in game two with a score of 7-4.
The Griffins scored a run each in the first two innings to jump to a 2-0 lead. They added another two in the top of the fourth to double their lead. Nyack wasn't able to score any runs of their own, while putting up four hits in the first game.
The Griffins would come back with two scored runs in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead. The Warrior scoring would explode in the bottom of the fourth. Aferdita Sinanaj scored the first of five runs in the inning after a Sarah Spindel single. Alissa Brugnoli hit a double to left field, which cleared the loaded bases for the Warriors to take a 6-2 lead. Brugnoli would then score herself to close out the scoring in the fourth inning.
Chestnut Hill would cut the lead down to two with a pair of scored runs in the top of the fifth, before the Warriors would add their seventh run of the day in the bottom of the 5th, when Aferdita Sinanaj hit the ball out of the park.
Nicole Wisser would continue with strong pitching throughout the last two innings to seal the 7-4 Nyack win.
Up next: Nyack will be back tomorrow when they travel to Concordia for CACC doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 3:00 pm.
