Softball Wraps Up Florida Trip
The Nyack College softball team concluded their competition in the Florida tournament on Friday, facing Trevecca Nazarene and Merrimack College. The Warriors lost to Trevecca 15-5 and Merrimack 8-6, finishing their week with a record of 3-11.

In the first game against Trevecca Nazarene, Nyack started out by putting a runner on base after Alissa Brugnoli's single in the top of the first, but she was thrown out in a fielder's choice as the inning's third out. Trevecca scored in the bottom of the first off of an RBI single, and once again in the bottom of the second on a solo home run. Nyack put one runner on base in the second and third innings but were not able to bring them home. In the bottom of the third, the Warriors got two quick outs from Trevecca, who then turned quickly around and scored seven runs before ending the inning, five of which were unearned. Down 9-0, the Warriors got a run off of Aferdita Sinanaj's solo homer and held Trevecca scoreless in the fourth. In the top of the fifth, both Stephanie White and Angelique Alires drew walks, setting up Katalina Padilla to bring in two RBI's on her following double. Alissa Brugnoli stepped up next and hit a home run, pulling in two more RBI's and bringing the score to 9-5. Trevecca then scored six earned runs in the bottom of the fifth, putting them up 15-5 over the Warriors and ending the game in a Nyack loss.

In the next game against Merrimack, Nyack again found themselves down early as Merrimack scored two runs in the second inning and one in both the third and fourth innings to put the Warriors down 4-0. In the bottom of the fourth, Katie Lupinacci and Nicole Wisser got on base after being walked, and Morgan Hans then drove in two RBI's on a double with two outs. Shelby Davidson then singled, bringing Hans home for another RBI and putting Nyack within one run of Merrimack with the score at 4-3. Merrimack added two more runs in the top of the fifth, and Nyack answered with an RBI from Alissa Brugnoli on a line-out, bringing Tia Celano home after she had walked and advanced to third. Merrimack scored again in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, Morgan Hans got on base after being hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a single from Shelby Davidson. Erin O'Brien doubled to bring them both home, and the score stood at 7-6 with Nyack still down by one. Merrimack added a final run in the top of the seventh, and Aferdita Sinanaj singled for Nyack in the bottom of the seventh but was left stranded as the Warriors ended with two losses for the day.

Nicole Wisser was the starting pitcher against Trevecca, and Brittany Blair was the starting pitcher against Merrimack. Katalina Padilla and Alissa Brugnoli had 2 RBI's in the first game, and Morgan Hans and Erin O'Brien also had 2 RBI's in the second game. Shelby Davidson, Aferdita Sinanaj and Alissa Brugnoli each had 2 combined hits for the day.
