Softball Earns First Victory of the Season with 12-8 Win Over Clarion

Clermont, FL - The Nyack College softball team earned their first win of the 2018-19 season when they defeated Clarion by a score of 12-8

Nyack scored seven runs in the top of the first. Erin O'Brien started the Warriors off when she scored off a passed ball. Janelle Adams and Stephanie White both scored on wild pitches to increase Nyack's lead to three. Alyssa Giampolo and Katie Lupinacci added another pair of runs for Nyack off a Krissy Johnson single. Arielys Rodriguez reached home on another wild pitch and Krissy Johnson rounded up the scoring for Nyack in the first inning when Janelle Adams was walked with the bases loaded. 

Clarion fought their way back into the game with six consecutive runs scored in the bottom of the 4th and the 5th to cut the Nyack lead down to one, 7-6. 

Nyack scored a pair of runs in the top of the 6th when Krissy Johnson hit another single and Rodriguez and Lupinacci reached home plate. Johnson then scored herself off a Erin O'Brien single. 

With the score 10-6 Clarion added another pair of runs in the bottom of the 6th to come within two, 10-8. But Nyack answered back right away with two runs in the top of the 7th. Adams scored off a White double and Morgan Hans scored off a Lupinacci sacrifice fly. The four run lead would be enough for Nyack to earn their first win of the season.
