NYACK, NY –  The Warrior women's basketball team was not able to pull off the big Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) upset on Thursday night over the No. 3 Post University, as they fell 90-75 in front of home fans at Bowman Gym.

Inside The Game
Post jumped out to an early 9-0 lead. Senior forward Camille Nwosu (Centreville, VA) put up the first Warrior bucket at 17:46 and later in regulation, classmate Audrey Matteson (Monticello, IN) would put Nyack ahead by one (17-16) after a 6-0 run that helped trim the deficit. As Post  fought to regain momentum, thirteen unanswered point beginning at 6:27 was enough to ignite the flame and send the Warriors into the locker room trailing 48-33. In the second half the Lady Warriors never saw another lead as Nack would get out scored 47-37 and the Lady Eagles walked away with the 90-75 game win. 

Warrior Audrey Matteson lead all scorers with 27 points, classmate Nwosu recorded a game high 8 rebounds along with a season-bests 12 points, and Tori Trador (Seminole, FL) dished a team high-4 assists while chipping in with 11 points in the losing effort. On the Eagles side four would land double figures; Raven Wright-James with a game-high 28 points, Hailey Griffin with 20 points, Aubrey Latham with 19 points, and Liz Falcigno with 12 points respectively.

A Closer Look

  • Post shot 56.9 percent from the field and 56.2 percent from the line. Nyack was held to shooting 40.9 percent from the floor but successfully converted 7-of-9 (77.8 percent) from the charity strip.
  • Nyack finished the night with 13 bench points while the Eagle bench recorded 8 points.
  • The Eagles forced more Nyack turnovers by a margin of 17-12 and both teams scored 18 fast break points.
  • Nyack fell short of the rebound battle as Post held a 38-35 edge.

Up Next
The Warriors return to action on Saturday February 8th as they travel to face Chestnut Hill College. The CACC match-up is slated for a 1PM start.
