Women's Hoops Battle to a 62-58 Season Opening CACC Victory over Felician

RUTHERFORD, NJ -  Behind a double-double from junior forward, Jamie McKeither (Laurel, MD), recording 13 points and 15 rebounds, the Warrior women's basketball team defeated Felician College on the road at Job Gymnasium. The win brings Nyack to 1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, as the Falcons drop to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.

In the first half Nyack overcame a fourteen point deficit after an 11-0 Falcon spurt that left the score 5-19 with 13:00 minutes left in regulation. As the Warriors fought for a comeback, they would trail 32-27 going into the locker room break. McKeither's jumpshot tied the contest 47-47 as Nyack's 9-0 run put them ahead by three points by the 6:09 mark (50-47). The Lady Falcons managed to tie the game a total of two times but never saw another lead as Nyack eventually sealed the 62-58 win.

McKeither tallied stats across the board with 8 offensive rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals in the effort. Shabreka Edwards led Nyack with 14 points in 20 minutes of action, including shooting 6-of-11 from field and 2-for-4 from the line. Freshman guard Alyssa Gatti  (Brooklyn, NY) dealt a game and collegiate career best 7 assists in the winning effort along with classmate Raven Makins  who snatched 6 offensive boards, contributing to Nyack's 15 second chance points. Makins snatched 11 total rebounds and chipped in with 8 points on the night.

  • Ashley Morris led Felician with a double-double from a game-high 16 points, 13 rebounds while dominating on defense with 4 steals and 3 blocks
  • The Warrior bench recorded 18 points compared to the 7 points from the Falcon bench
  • Nyack shot 32.4 percent from the field and out-rebound the Falcons, 49-45
  • As a team Nyack forced 25 turnovers and netted 26 points off Felician turnovers
