NYACK, NY - Despite two players ending the night with double-figures, the Nyack College women's basketball team fell 70-68 to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, Chestnut Hill College, during the final thirteen seconds of the regulation.
Junior forward Jamie McKeither (Laurel, MD) led all scorers with 23 points and nine rebounds, three assist, and two steals. Raven Makins (Laurel, MD) chipped in with 12 points on shooting 4-of-8 from the floor while converting 7-for-8 at the free-throw line.
Nyack took control right from the start as the Warriors led for the majority of the contest. Chestnut Hill overcame a fourteen point deficit in the first stanza to go into the locker room trailing by just eight points (36-28). Mckeither shot 7-of-13 while converting 1-for-1 at the line to end the half with a game-high 15 points.
By the second stanza Nyack would continue to have the upper hand. The Griffins would slowly chip away at the scoreboard and by the 12:45 mark, Chestnut Hill utilized a 7-0 run to get within two points (48-46).
The game was close the entire way with as both teams rallied back and forth. Olivia Gorczynski, who led the Griffins with 18 points, nailed a pair of free throws with 4:00 minutes left in regulation to tie the match (60-60) and then gave Chestnut Hill their first lead of the game, 61-60.
Warrior McKeither scored a layup with 00:13 left on the clock to tie the match 68-68. The Griffins were able to net another jumpshot but Nyack was unable to execute another opportunity to score with Tori Trador (Seminole, FL) missing a final second three-pointer to win the game, en route to the 70-68 setback at home.
