Bronxville, N.Y. -- The Nyack College women's basketball team dropped their conference match against the Concordia College Clippers 67-75 on Wednesday night at the Meyer Athletic Center.
Nyack (1-5) had a handful of players in double figures, led by Janae Bailey's 16 points and seven rebounds. She was closeley followed by Torie Eggers with 11 points, while Kelli Smoot, Tayelor McCalister, and Bryanna Brown added 10 points each.
The action during the first quarter was spread out evenly. Concordia got on the board first with two made free throws. The Warriors answered with a made jump-shot by Jocelin Wright at the 8:39 mark. Concordia would go on to earn the lead in a closeley contested first quarter and was able to hold on to it until the 1:20 mark, when Torie Eggers tied the game with a 3-point shot at 16-16. The Clippers were able to add to more points and the first quarter would finish with a score of 16-18 in favor of Concordia.
The second quarter was all Concordia, as the Clippers were able to combine for a 20-2 run, which earned them a 20 point lead at half time.
Concordia would start the second half with a 5-0 run to increase their lead to 25. However, Nyack asnwered with a 12-2 run to cut the Clippers' lead to 15 at the 4:46 minute mark of the third quarter. Both teams battled back and forth and the quarter finished with a score of 36-53.
The Warriors came out hot in the final quarter, using a 21-10 run to cut the deficit to six points, 57-63, at the 3:12 mark. But Nyack was unable to get any closer, due to the strong free throw shooting of the Clippers in the final minutes. The game eventually finished with a score of 67-75.
The Warriors return to action on Dec. 3, hosting the Eagles of Post University in a 1 pm contest.
