Women's Basketball Suffers Tough Road Loss to Post University Eagles

Waterbury, CT – The Nyack College women's basketball team was upended by the Post University Eagles on Tuesday afternoon in a CACC road match. The loss drops the Warriors' record to 3-14, 2-9 CACC, while Post improves to 2-18, 2-10 CACC.

Nyack was led by graduate student Tayelor McCalister who scored a game high 23 points. McCalister also pulled down a game high ten rebounds. She was followed by freshman Torie Eggers with 13 points.

Both teams battled back and forth in the beginning minutes of the game. The Warriors pulled ahead after a Tayelor McCalister jump shot to estbalish a seven point lead. The Eagles would cut the Nyack lead down to three right before the end of the first quarter, 19-16.

The battle continued throughout the second quarter. However, the Warriors were able to slwoly pull away. A Bryanna Brown three point bucket would give the Warriors an eight point lead at halftime, 37-29.

The Eagles enjoyed the better start into the second half starting off with a 8-0 to tie the score with 7:36 to go in the quarter, 37-37. Post was able to pull ahead with four minutes to go, 38-40. The Eagles slowly pulled ahead establishing a five point lead before the end of the third quarter.

The Eagles held a seven point lead through most of the fourth quarter. With 20 second left Nyack would use a Torie Eggers three pointer and a Tayelor McCalister layup to cut the lead down to five points. But time was running out for the Warriors and the game finished with a score of 62-67 in favor of Post.

The Warriors will be back in action tomorrow when they host the Dominican College Chargers in a 5:30pm contest at Bowman Gym.
