Karim-Duvall Leads Warriors With 20 Points in Loss to Felician

The Nyack women's basketball team faced off against Felician University on Tuesday night, starting off strong but eventually falling to the Golden Falcons in a 45-69 Warriors loss. The Warriors' CACC record now stands at 2-7.

In the first half, Nyack outpaced Felician on offense. After the Golden Falcons jumped out to an early lead, the Warriors steadily fought back in a scoring surge that was kickstarted by two 3-pointers from Audrey Matteson and Japria Karim-Duvall with under three minutes left in the first quarter. Karim-Duvall sank two more distance shots in the the second quarter, and the Warriors offense followed her lead, scoring on jump shots to head into halftime up 31-26.
 
The Golden Falcons stormed into the second half, starting off the third quarter with a scoring run that drew them even with the Warriors. Nyack's defense forced some Felician turnovers to slow down the Golden Falcons, but the Warriors found themselves down by 6 heading into the fourth quarter. Felician's offense went on another run that was stopped by a jump shot from Kelli Smoot, but the Golden Falcons continued to score from the field and the free throw line. The Warriors battled back on defense, but could not take back the lead as the game wound down, and Nyack finished in a loss.
 
Japria Karim-Duvall led the Warriors offense with 20 points and also made an impact on defense with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Yamalis Villegas contributed 5 assists.
