HILLBURN, NY (April 3, 2013)
The Nyack Lacrosse team traveled to battle Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Dominican College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Warriors would score two goals in this contest but would not be able to snap their win-less streak as the Chargers walked away with the victory at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
It was a hard game for the Nyack Warriors. Dominican came out strong, creating a solid 12 goal lead within the first 10 minutes. The fast break caught Nyack off guard.
The Lady Warrioers did better when they started to play tighter on the defense, but often got caught in disappointing one-on-one situatiions. Nyack was able to score two goals in the 1st half of free position shots, but had trouble on attack because theywere trying to force the ball to goal rather than use quick passes.
In the 2nd half, Dominican possessed the ball and worked it around in order to keep opportunities away from Nyack. The Lady Warrior defense is discovering how to break this stall, however it took them too much precious time to come up with the ball.
The girls reacted instead of anticipating and still are struggling to capitalize on 50/50 balls. In the end, Dominican was hungrier for a win and took charge to make that happen.
CoachDietrich Reis states: " We must remember that this is a first year program. Although the score does not reflect their improvement, the ladies are growing quickly. As the saying goes, losses often teach better lessons than wins and I see this team being refined through trough tough games like the one played against Dominican."
Nyack Lacrosse will look forward to a long break from competition while preparing for their next match-up scheduled for Thursday, April 11th 2013 on Mosley Field. First draw is set to toss at 3:30pm against Georgian Court University.
