Nyack, NY - The Nyack College women's lacrosse team lost its home opener against the Franklin Pierce University Ravens 16-3 on Saturday afternoon in a NCAA match played at Nyack High School.
The Ravens would score seven times within the first twelve minutes of the game, gaining an early 7-0 lead. Nyack's Emily Sigmon would add the first Warrior goal of the day after a great solo effort at the 14th minute mark. Franklin Pierce would add another five goals within the next nine minutes, before Jocelin Wright scored her first collegiate lacrosse goal for Nyack in the 27th minute of the first half. Franklin Pierce would score one more time before halftime to make the score 13-1 at the break.
The second half was a little less eventful and saw only four goals. Franklin Pierce would score the first three goals of the second half, before Abby Wilmot would reward her performance with a goal of her own. Wilmot led the Warriors in shots and recorded a game-high nine groundballs, while also winning a game-high six draw controls.
The Lady Warriors will be traveling to South Carolina to compete against Converse on Tuesday (6pm) and Newberry on Thursday (3pm).
