Women's Soccer Drops Opener 3-0 at St. Rose

Nyack, NY. – The Nyack College women's soccer team was defeated by the St. Rose Golden Knights 3:0 earlier this evening.

The Golden Knights scored at the 11th minute mark when Victoria Barris finished a cross from Morgan Buchhardt. Despite the early setback the Warriors stuck to their game plan and held off the Golden Knights until the 41st minute when Victoria Barris scored her second goal of the night. The Warriors were outshot 2-15 in the first half.

Despite valiant effort by the Warriors to keep the Golden Knights at bay, Victoria Barris would net her third goal of the game in the 86th minute. St. Rose outshot the Warriors (0-1) 15-3 in the second half to finish the game with a 30-5 advantage.

Tested for much of her collegiate debut between the posts, Julianna Kranes (Montgomery, NY) finished the game with four saves out of the seven shots faced.

Rebekah Lawler (Lacey, NJ) led the team with three shots, while Zoe Mould (Mobile, AL) added two more attempts for the Warriors.

"Today, the team stuck to the game plan for the majority of the match and it was great to see the growth and improvement of our ladies. There were many positive moments to take away from today's game. I am excited to return to the practice field and prepare for our upcoming games," Coach Wright stated.

Nyack returns to action next Tuesday for their home opener against St. Anselm College. Kickoff is slated for 3:30pm.
