Bronxville, N.Y. – The Nyack College women's soccer team, got back on the winning track with a 4-2 victory against Concordia College on Wednesday afternoon.
Less than 12 minutes into the opening half, the Warriors (3-6, 3-3) created a 1-0 lead off the foot of freshman Camila Parada. Vanessa Séfriou found her fellow teammate in the middle of the box as Parada struck to place the opening tally in the lower left corner during the 11th minute.
The Clippers scored the equalizer in the 23rd minute as Nyack turned the ball over and Jimena Garcia Risoto found Sara Calvert for a shot into the left side of the net. Concordia would strike again 14 minutes later when Hannah Deknikker scored by an assist from Garcia Risoto. The first 45 minutes would end with a score of Nyack 1, Concordia 2. The Warriors recorded a 11-8 advantage in shots and both goalkeeper would finish the first half with two saves.
The second half kick-off marked the start of a Warrior comeback rally. 5 minutes into the second half graduate student Charlotte Barnham would find freshman Zoe Mould in the box. Mould then cruised by two defenders and fired a shot into the top left corner to tie the game. Mould would strike again 6 minutes later with a shot into the lower right corner after an assist by teammate Rebekah Lawler. The Warriors kept control of the game in the second half and Charlotte Barnham sealed the victory with a goal in the 85th minute, when Vanessa Séfriou picked up a clearance by the Concordia defense and found her teammate with a cross.
Julianna Kranes finished her afternoon with 9 saves. Nyack wrapped up the game with 17 shots and two corners.
Looking ahead, the Warriors travel to Orangeburg, NY to take on the Dominican College Chargers on Tuesday. The CACC match is scheduled for a 3:30 pm start.
