Nyack, NY – A second half goal by freshman Tauntyonah Marie-Guinter was enough for the Nyack College women's soccer team to upend Holy Family University, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon during CACC Conference action.
Holy Family outshot the Warriors in the first 45 minutes 13-3. However, the Tigers were unable to find the back of the net. They were denied by either sophomore goalkeeper Julianna Kranes or the crossbar. Kranes finished the first half with 4 saves.
During the second half the Warriors pushed forward and created several opportunities. In the 60th minute freshman Camila Parada sent in a beautiful cross that was finished by freshman Taunyonah Marie-Guinter for the 1-0 lead.
Nyack finished with a 20-8 disadvantage in shots while both teams created five corner kicks apiece. Kranes added one save in the final 45 minutes to finish with 5 for the game.
Looking ahead, the Warriors return to the field for competition on Thursday to face Bloomfield College. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm at Nyack High School.
