North Easton, MA - The Nyack College women's soccer team dropped its season opener on the road against the Assumption College Greyhounds, 0-6. The game was played on the campus of Stonehill College and is part of the East Region Crossover Challenge.
The Greyhounds were able to find the back of the net three times within the first 15 minutes of the game. Kallie Villemaire scored in the 8th and 12th minute, while teammate Jessica Fitzgerald scored in the 11th minute to give Assumption an early 3-0 lead. The Greyhounds continued to control the game throughout the first half adding three more goals to the scoreboard. Johnna Caporuscio scored in the 27th minute, before Sydney Huckabee would score her first goal of the season. Caporuscio rounded up the first half scoring with her second goal of the day in the 38th minute. The Warriors finished the first half without any shots, while the Greyhounds recorded 15. Freshman goalkeeper Greta Enloe saved three of the nine shots she faced in the first 45 minutes.
Assumption continued to dominate the game in the second half recording another eight shots, while Alexia Missett had the lone shot on goal for the Warriors. The game finished with a final score of 0-6 in favor or the Greyhounds. Freshman goalkeeper Greta Enloe finished the game with six saves.
The Lady Warriors will be back tomorrow for game two of the East Region Crossover Challenge against the Stonehill College Skyhawks. Kick off is slated for 3:00pm.
