Wilmington, DE – The Lady Warriors of Nyack finished another CACC match with a tough loss. They traveled to contend with Goldey-Beacom in a well sought out battle. The Warriors fell (2-3) in the final 90:00 minutes. The Warriors are now (1-7) in CACC conference.
The goalies in this match were the assets for the team. For Goldey-Beacom, keeper Marta Lopez, made 3 saves; and Nyack's, Greta Enloe, came up with a season high of 16 saves. Both keepers were tested within the first five minutes of the game. Back-to-back corner kicks and then two shows by the Lightning's tested Greta Enloe. Still yet, she would not let one in. Anna-Marie Vandyk for the Warriors worked her way into Lightning's territory as her first shot was saved. Although her shot did not make it back in, Vandyk assisted teammate Alexia Missett in her fourth goal of the season after a miss save. The Warriors now leading early in the first half could not stop Goldey-Beacom's, Elena Power, as her teammate Alanna Speaks assisted her. With the tie, the Lightning's managed to possess majority of the ball in Nyack's territory. They would have four shots on the Warriors goalie before the fifth shot on goal sailed in to the Warriors goal. Taylor Owen, assisted by Alanna Speaks, shot her fourth goal of the season from 10-yeards inside of the right post. The Warriors struggled to answer back as the first half ended with (2-1) lead for Goldey-Beacom.
The second half started off strong for both sides. As the Warriors searched for another tie, within 45 seconds of kick-off, Camila Parada tied the game. Camilla Parada's goal was assisted by Abisag Ramirez, as her shot from the 15-yard mark dropped right in to the left post. Now the battle to score another weighed heavy on both teams. The Warriors could not find their way into the Lightning's territory, so instead Goldey-Beacom found their way in to Nyack's territory. The Lighting's forced a corner kick and thus keeping the Warrior's on their toes. Cliona Crammond kicked the corner in to Tanner Turner-Rush who scored her first goal of the season when she bodied the ball in to the goal. The Warriors fall back in to a down situation as the scoreboard reflected (2-3), Goldey-Beacom. As the game progressed both teams struggled back and forth with not being able to score another goal. The Warriors fall to another CACC team.
Nyack will travel on the road again but this time to compete with other CACC member, Felician University. Game is set for Wednesday, October 11, at 5:00 pm.
