Women's Soccer Tops Bloomfield Bears in Home CACC Match

Nyack, NY– The Nyack College women's soccer team hosted the Bloomfield College Bears in a CACC contest at home on Tuesday afternoon, which 2-0 in favor of the Warriors. With the win Nyack improves to 3-6-1 overall and 3-3-1 in conference play.

GAME SUMMARY:
The first half was tightly contested by both teams but was cut short due to a lightning delay with ten minutes left in the first period. Once the delay was over the Warriors got up first on the scoreboard when Emily Smith scored her first collegiate goal off a corner by Kaelan Kanai in the 39th minute. The Warriors added another goal in the second half when Camila Parada took a shot from right outside the box and curled the ball in the upper left corner of the Bloomfield net. Bloomfield tried to push in the remaining minutes but wasn't able to create any promising opportunities in the closing minutes. The game was cut four minutes short due to another lightning delay and eventually ended in the 86th minute with a score of 2-0.

KEY PERFORMERS:
Emily Smith scored her first collegiate career goal, while freshman Nicole Benesch recorded her second shutout with a total of six saves. 

COMING UP NEXT:
Nyack will enjoy a free weekend and will be back in action next Wednesday when they travel to New Jersey to take on the Caldwell University Cougars at 4:00pm.
