Volleyball Finishes Season with CACC Quarterfinal Loss to Georgian Court
Lakewood, NJ - The Nyack College women's volleyball team traveled to Lakewood, New Jersey on Wednesday night to square off with the Georgian Court University Lions in the first round of the CACC Quarterfinals. This marked the third straight appearance for the volleyball program in the first round of the CACC playoffs. 

THE BASICS:
Final: Georgian Court 3, Nyack 0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-14)
Records: GCU (22-9), NC (11-18)
Location: Lakewood, New Jersey

GAME SUMMARY:

  • the first set was highly contested and went back and fourth, GCU kept the upper hand with the score being tied 24-24 and scored the final two points to clinch the first set of the day
  • the Lions used the momentum and jumped to 12-3 lead, Nyack tried to come back but fell short with a final score of 25-19
  • the third set remaind close with the score being 11-12 for the Lions, however GCU used a 13-2 run to clinch the third and final set with a score of 25-14 and move on to the CACC seminfinals 

KEY PERFORMERS:
Nyack was led by sophomore Kyra Zuhlke with 10 kills, while senior Larreya Hayden contributed eight. Rachel Medin recorded a double-double with 24 assists and 12 digs.

SEASON RECAP:
The Warriors finished the season with a final record of 11-18 making their third straight playoff appearance. Kyra Zuhlke led the Warriors with 333 kills and was named to the CACC All-Conference First Team, while the Warriors received the Team Sportsmanship Award for the 14th time since 2004.
