Nyack, NY - The Nyack College baseball team hosted the Concordia College Clippers on Wednesday afternoon in a CACC matchup between the number #1 and the #2 of the CACC North Division. The Clippers took both games with scores of 12-6 nd 7-1. With the loss the Warriors fall to a 18-18-1 overall record and 11-11 in CACC play.
The Warriors fell behind early in game one when Concordia scored eight runs over the course of the first and second inning. Nyack put up its first scores in the bottom of the third. Hayden Allen scored off a Luke Kelly single and Herman Alvarado reached home plate after a Carlos Pino hit to center field. Nyack continued to sneak its way back into the game with another pair of runs in the bottom of the 4th. With the bases loaded Austin Fischer was walked and Alec Petterson reached home plate. A Luke Kelly sacrifice fly allowed Gabriel Vazquez to go on and score. Nyack scored another run in the bottom of the 5th when the bases were loaded once again and Herman Alvarado was walked allowing Anthomny Torreullas to score, 8-5. But Concordia put up another four runs in the top of the 6th to put the game out of reach for the Warriors. Carlos Pino would score one final run in the bottom of the 6th. The game finished with the final score of 12-6.
Game two was tied for the first three innings before the Clippers put up five runs in the top of the 4th. Concordia added another run in the top of the fifth. Nyack scored its sole run of game two in the bottom of the 6th. Carlos Pino scored off a Alec Petterson single. Concordia scored one more in the top of the 7th and the game finished with a final score of 7-1.
Up next: The Warriors will be back on Friday to square off with the Clippers again on the road. First pitch is slated for 1:30pm.
