Warriors Split with Felician on the Road in CACC Doubleheader

Rutherford, NJ - The Nyack College baseball team traveled to New Jersey to take on the Felician University Golden Falcons in a CACC cross-divisional doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. 

The Basics:

Final: Nyack 10, Felician 13
Records: NC (5-11-1, 1-2), FEL (8-13, 2-1)
Location: Rutherford, New Jersey
      Final: Nyack 25, Felician 14
Records: NC (6-11-1, 2-2), FEL (8-14, 2-2)
Location: Rutherford, New Jersey

Game Summary:

Game 1:

  • Felician scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first, before Nyack back and tied the game in the top of the third
  • Gabe Vasquez scored off a David Gauthier single down the middle
  • Felician scored again right away in the top of third, but the Warriors used a five-run effort in the top of the fourth to jump to a 6-2 lead
  • the Golden Falcons scored a combined five runs in the bottom of the 4th and the 5th to take a 7-6 lead
  • Nyack jumped back ahead with a pair of runs in the top of the 6th. but Felician scored five runs in the bottom of the 6th to go up 13-8
  • Nyack came within three in the top of the 8th when they scored another pair of runs but ultimately feel short in their effort to tie the game back up

Game 2:

  • in a crazy second game both teams combined for a total of 39 runs
  • Nyack's best outing came in the top of the 4th when the Warriors strung 11 runs together to put the Falcons in the rearview mirror
  • Jonathan Santiago led the Warriors in game two with a total five hits in six at bats

Nyack will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Connecticut to take on the Post University Eagles.
