The Nyack College Warriors Baseball team played in a home conference double header against Concordia College Clippers. The Warriors swept the game with a score of 13-4 in the first game and 6-5 in the second game.
Both teams had a slow start and scoring didn't begin until the third inning. Concordia was the first on the scoreboard with a run scored from a single down center field. In the 4th inning Nyack reaches the scoreboard when Herman Alvarado singles to right field bringing David Gauthier home. At the bottom of the 6th inning the Warriors began a scoring streak that lasted three innings. Herman Alvarado was a key hitter with a triple, double and a single hit with 5 RBIs among those three hits. Concordia scored 2 runs in the 9th innning on a single to center field but it was not enough to catch up and the Warriors ended the game with 13 total runs scored.
Most of the scoring happened within the first inning of the game. Concordia was the first on the scoreboard again scoring 2 runs on 2 singles. The Warriors scored 3 of their runs in the first inning from a single hit by Herman Alvarado, a single hit from Alec Petterson and a base reached on an error by left field by Gabriel Vasquez running in Alec Petterson. Nyack scored their last run for the game when David Gauthier doubled to right field bringing home Alvarado. Neither team scored for the last 2 innings of the game, ending with 6 total runs for the Warriors.
Herman Alvarado had a total of 8 at bats, 3 runs scored, 6 hits, and 8 RBIs between both games.
The Warriors Baseball will compete against Concordia College again in an away conference double header on Friday April 12, at 1 and 4PM.
