The Warriors men's basketball team competed in an away non-conference game against New York Tech. The Warriors dominated the court offensively and defensively both halves, pulling out the first win of the season for the Warriors.
In the first half of the game, the Warriors trailed behind NYT by two points for majority of the half. It wasn't until the last five minutes of the half, when Thomas Nolan made a three pointer gaining a lead for the Warriors. From there the Warriors had an edge on NYT and at the end of the half, the score totaled in at 36-32, with Nyack in the lead. Nyack shot a 33.3% from behind the arc compared to NYT's 10.0%. The Warriors were 41.7% from the field overall with a 66.6% in free throws. NYT was 34.4% from the field overall with 75% in freethrows.
In the second half of the game, NYT began to pick up their pace, increasing their 3-point percentage to 40% but Nyack already had an advantage with a lead beginning the half. The Warriors also increased their three-point percentage to 55.6% combating the opposing team and giving them the upper hand in the game. The Warriors pulled ahead of NYT in this half gaining a ten to twelve point lead. NYT tried their best to bridge the point gap but were unable to produce anything promising, giving the Warriors their first win of the season with a final score of 88-80.
Nyack's offense and defense was led by Kennith Ford with a total of 20 points for the Warriors as well as one block and a team-high of three steals.
